My exhibition in ARTtila, Oulu.

Here i am with ‘Mother Earth: Spirit’ on the left and ‘Mother Earth: Infinity’ next to me.

The title of the exhibition translates into “Earths Faces and Moon Sisters”

So i still have my exhibition going, showing my newest paintings, Paloma and these six small paintings that form the Mother Earth series. And as the name of the exhibition suggests, i also have my three piece Moon series of etchings on display too.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this ensemble of artwork last year.

First

First i finished the bigger painting ‘Paloma’, that i started back in 2016. There were few years that i didn’t work on it and it just hang on the wall unfinished. But i still spent a huge amount of time with that painting as i continued to work on it 2019. And the process was at times, painfully slow.

Thats why

i wanted to do something completely different and these small paintings came from the idea to make quick and easy paintings, into these small canvases that i made from extra linen shreds i had left from making bigger canvases. I had no other plan. But they formed this sweet theme by themselves, from the thoughts that were circling in my head during the painting process. I will write about the theme more in my next blog post.

In between

of those painting projects however i did some intaglio etchings.

I had a long break on making etchings and i wanted to start again by making these old sketches i’ve had in my drawer for years. So as if to start off with ease and low expectations, if something goes wrong. To my surprise they all worked out better than i imagined.

I love the new colors i dared to try out and the mystical feeling that came about.
