Christmas card

I made this christmas card to local Animal Protection association before christmas.

I didn’t have much time to do this project so I decided to do a quick digital collage/painting. And even so, spent way more time on this that I should have. I can’t swing anything. Gotta pedant.

Main image I used was a cat image that is many times referred in the internet as the oldest photo of a cat. (it probably isn’t though)

It had a bell in a ribbon so it felt christmasy.

Using old images like this in art is possible because they are in public domain and so old that the author isn’t even known.

I like the idea that this is one of the first cats ever to be photographed. What else is there in 2024 but cat photos/videos.. but there was a time it wasn’t so.

Someone took the time and effort (and probably also cost way more) to take this very dignified portrait of their smooch-tiger.

Using the first cat of all the cats type of image seemed appropriate for the project as it was done for charity for cat rescue.

I wanted to do some digital painting over the original image and modify the cat to make it sharper and artsy. And also add some zazing to it.

I think I’m (finally) getting over my special interest in space phase.. But had to do it at least one more time. To give some otherworldly vibes.

I think cats are naturally spiritual.

Born zenmasters.
